Welcome to the
Introductory Physics Home Page

Two years ago, the Physics Department at Indiana University created a
special section of the calculus-based introductory physics course (P221-P222)
specifically for freshmen and physics majors. The course is structured to
be highly interactive and it employs computers for simulations, numerical
techniques, real-time collection of data and data analysis.
The emphasis in this Web presentation is on the material in the first semester
of the course (mechanics and thermodynamics). More information on the second
semester (electromagnetism and optics) will be added later.

The overview page tells what the course
is about, its history and plans for the future
The student participation page details student
involvement in the course (exams, homework, projects and presentations)
The computer page describes how computers
are used in the course
The student research page outlines opportunities
for students to work with researchers
The text and recommended references are also
included
